Warning!!!! This post is long and I will probably waffle, for this apologise but I am afraid it has to be done, if you do not want to wallow in my excitement then please look away now!

Ok so the collage above literally took me about 2 hours to decide on, yes I really do understand that better time could have been spent finding homes for the accumulation of my ever expanding collection of things but I thought this was more important tonight. The reason I found it so difficult was purely based on the amount of amazing experiences I have had this year. I feel extremely lucky to have been to so many lovely places both home and abroad all of which has filled me with more inspiration for the next stage. When I sat writing my hopes for 2016 this time last year I never ever entertained that so much would be crammed in and so much would change. I have written a list to help me! Its long! and as I didn’t want to bore you too much I thought the best way for me to look back would be to look at my monthly collages that I do on Instagram at the end of each month. You will see that intermingled amongst the events and trips are vast amounts of flowers and pretty stuff. My year in pictures……

The year started off perfectly with my first trip to London to attend the Emily Quinton workshop in her wonderful studio. I met some amazing ladies many of which I am still in contact with. I styled the cutest Christening. I also went to meet the very lovely Allison Sadler for a mentoring session and she helped me to consolidate all of my ideas and gave me a shove to push them in the right direction. Also – Strictly Come Dancing!!!

10 days of this month were spent in Florida and beautiful it was too. This was also the month where I made the decision to leave teaching to fully concentrate on the business – scary times!! I didn’t tell anyone though! There was also lots of planning going into the business, logo’s, website design and branding and luckily lots of vintage styling kits went out to their new homes.

Lovely Easter styling, lots of vintage finds & pretty flowers filled March. I met one of my favourite IG friends when we realised we lived about 10 minutes away from eachother! My website was being built and we were getting closer and closer to the big launch….

MY BIG 40!!! I’ve never lied April is my fave month and this year not only did I turn 40 but I launched my new business too. It was wonderful, my collaboration with Heart Vintage was very exciting and we launched the Bridesmaid kits along side the website. I posted lots of lovely orders too and spent many a happy hour trawling around car boots.

The month of Wisteria and lots more flowers, I took the kids down to London to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which was brilliant and my advert came out in the S/S edition of 91 magazine. I was also very lucky to go to Marbella for mine and my friends 40th and we had an amazing time – lovely sunshine!!

What a month! The Queen’s birthday celebrations, Blogtacular!! , 91 launch party on the King’s Road, my Style at Home feature came out, I launched Vintage Paper Styling kits and I met some very lovely ladies over at The People Shop for their birthday,  including Rebecca Lawrence (ivy.cottage) Lisa Rushton (HeartVintageuk) and Selina Lake. Sooooo much crammed into one month!

July was all kinds of bitter sweet, I spent a lovely week in Italy with school which was a fabulous way to end my career of 17 years. I attended a workshop run by Sara Tasker ( MeandOrla) I ran my first paper garland workshop and a crafty hen party and I met some lovely brides at their venues getting ready for next year. Leaving work at the end of July was scary but so exciting and I haven’t looked back.

August was hot!!! Dubai was so lovely and I spent 2 weeks with my gorgeous family soaking up the sunshine and meeting friends of old. We made the backdrop ready for the many wedding fairs and I found more gorgeous things at vintage fairs. I love the summer as you know so this was a favourite month of mine. Oh and getting the email from Vogue was pretty cool too!

My first wedding fair, a really colourful wedding, an advert in Vogue, The Wedding Sessions in Bristol run by the lovely Kirsten (weddinghelperuk) and the best day spent with Tamsyn Morgans (tamsynmorgans) in Sketch!!! We hatched a plan too!

Things were starting to get a bit darker now and slightly more Autumnal but I carried on doing wedding fairs using lovely foliage and flowers, I found a gorgeous old door for £3 and I was very lucky that both Lucie (luciebradyphotography) and Lisa (thelovelyflowerstudio) agreed to aid me with a fantastic wedding shoot in an old farm building. These images are brill and I hope to get them out into the world next year. Our Home Tour went live on Rock my Style which was a dream come true and I wrote a guest blog post for them too.

It all went a bit peachy in November as the Christmas decs started appearing but the best day was another trip to London to meet some of the most inspiring ladies all together at Bourne and Hollingsworth. It was a great end to the year and a shame we couldn’t spend more time together. I also styled Anthony John Salons for Christmas and another very very cute christening. I met some more couples in venues that really excite me and I really can’t wait to get stuck in.

So here we are on the very last day of December, this month has been filled with family time, Center Parcs was so relaxing and I have had chance to actually stop and think! Since leaving work in July each week has consisted of a list and the fuller the list the happier I am. I never dreamed that 2016 would have given me so much in terms of the business, the people I have had the pleasure to meet and the experiences I have known. There are many many more things in the pipeline for next year, some I have to keep under my hat at the moment! But the Decorative Vintage Styling workshop I am running with Tamsyn is going to be a highlight and we are going to be taking it on tour!!! Then there are the weddings and the afternoon teas and all of the unknown. I really hope you can look back fondly at 2016, forget the politics and the sad days and lets look forward.
