5 signs you are a wedding stylist!!
I am guilty of being wedding obsessed, I have been thrown head first into this whole new world which I didn’t realise existed and I have to say – I LOVE IT!! Here are 5 certain ways that I know I have picked the right career.

1. SHOPPING. The image above illustrates perfectly my point, every item here was chosen specially with weddings in mind. When I walked into the junk shop and saw a box full of these stoneware bottles I immediately thought “yes” perfect for centre pieces, the faux peonies, yes I said faux!!! purchased for a hanging flower display and they worked brilliantly and when you spot a gorgeous blue vase in The Range and you know that you could quite easily buy another 9, yes I generally now buy everything in 10s! because you just never know….. I also love shopping!!! And now I have an excuse.
2. FLOWERS : More than ever before I now put flowers in everything!! I have always loved styling flowers, it makes me really happy when couples trust me to style this part of their day. I am not a florist however and I love to work with amazingly talented creatives to make something really special. When I am asked to do the flowers I love to fill all sorts of different vessels and when I am out and about on my buying travels I am constantly thinking about suitable containers, I now have a plethora of treasures to fill with pretties.
3. RECYCLING : Ok, so I have always always loved old furniture, nothing in my house, apart from the sofa’s is new, I love going to car boots, and flea markets but now I am on the look out for items I can use at weddings (surprise surprise) I also love it when things are free!! So take this cupboard for example, this was found in my dad’s shed, covering in spiders and cobwebs, some would have run a mile but I could see it would be perfect as a cake table. All to often venues make couples feel that they have to use ‘THE’ cake table supplied, the boring round one in the corner. I plan to have lots more options of cake display so you can take your pick. Don’t ask me where I am going to store them, thats another blogpost!!
4. EAVESDROPPING : Yep, you read right! I find myself listening in on peoples conversations and the mere mention of the word wedding and my ears prick up. The other day I was on a train and a couple of seats along some ladies were talking about the other ladies wedding plans, all I could do was listen!! I couldn’t butt in, but I was desperate to know more details, the dress, the style, the venue, I mean did she have a Pinterest board? Did she need a stylist? You see, I want to help everyone. I love a good wedding!!!!

5. BROWSING HISTORY : There was a time when my history was filled with holiday searching (sigh) clothes shopping and general interior pinning. This has gone!! Take a look at my tabs now and you will see wedding inspiration coming out of my ears, blog posts, mine and others and emails. There is a huge array of inspiration out there and I find that my couples can get swamped in it all. I am more than happy to take that pressure off and sit for hours on Pinterest!! It’s my job after all.
So the wedding world makes me happy, buying pretty props, dressing pretty venues and spending time with amazing people both in the industry and the couples themselves is kind of cool. Planning and designing a day which is essentially filled with love can’t be bad. And I reckon we need all the love we can get. xx
